In July of 1973, a group of concerned citizens founded “The 100 Club of San Antonio” as a non-profit organization dedicated to the support of families of firefighters and peace officers slain in the line of duty.
Each individual member donates $100 or more annually. The accumulated available funds are utilized when an employed peace officer or firefighter within Bexar County is killed in the line of duty.
When a tragedy takes the life of one of these individuals, members' contributions are used to assist the surviving spouse and dependent children. The 100 Club quickly delivers a check to the family to help meet their immediate financial needs.
When there are dependent children, The 100 Club establishes a trust fund for each child. These trusts are increased annually with funds accumulated from members dues and donations.
These trust funds are invested prudently, and interest is added on a pro-rata basis each year. The proceeds from these trust funds are made available over a five year period after the children attain 18 years of age.
We have no paid staff. Our total expenses are less than 3%
A generous volunteer donates even this small amount. |
